WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Willis
Shanice is great. Really friendly, place is clean. I have an older dog with special needs-blind, diabetes and requires insulin injections. I was comfortable knowing she was in good hands. I will use Shanice again and would definitely recommend.

Henry
"I leave my golden lab with Shanice when I have to be in office all day and
it's great! Shanice sends lots of updates and Henry is always exhausted (and happy) when I pick him up. I would recommend prudent paws to anyone. There are only a couple dogs at a time and Shanice makes sure your pup fits into the pack!"
Sydney. S
Poppy
"Shanice & Prudent Paws is the best for boarding. Sadly I'm no longer living in the area to bring my pup there for daycare, but Shanice still gladly accepts my dog for boarding. Price is great, so many updates that always show pups having the best time! 100% trust Shanice with my dog and will continue to bring Poppy back when needed "

What is anesthesia-free cosmetic teeth cleaning?Anesthesia-free cosmetic teeth cleaning is a gentle, natural process that removes plaque and tartar from the visible surfaces of your dog’s teeth without the use of sedation or anesthesia. It’s a stress-free option for maintaining your dog’s oral health between vet visits.
-
Is this procedure safe for all dogs?Yes, it’s safe for most dogs! It’s especially ideal for older dogs, anxious pups, or those who may be sensitive to anesthesia. However, dogs with severe dental issues or significant gum disease should first consult their veterinarian.
-
How is this different from a veterinarian’s dental cleaning?Veterinary dental cleanings address both above and below the gum line and often include X-rays to detect underlying issues. Cosmetic teeth cleaning focuses on removing plaque and tartar from the visible surfaces of the teeth to maintain oral hygiene between vet visits.
-
Will my dog feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure? No, the process is entirely non-invasive, and we use gentle techniques to ensure your dog feels comfortable and relaxed throughout the session.
-
How long does the procedure take? The cleaning typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your dog’s size, temperament, and level of plaque buildup.
-
How often should I schedule a cleaning? For most dogs, we recommend scheduling a cosmetic teeth cleaning every 6-12 months to maintain oral hygiene. This can vary depending on your dog’s diet, age, and oral health.
-
What happens if my dog becomes too stressed during the process?Your dog’s well-being is our top priority. If your dog becomes too stressed to complete the procedure, we will not charge you for the cleaning, and your $50 deposit will be refunded in full.
-
Can you clean all breeds and sizes of dogs?Absolutely! We’re experienced in handling dogs of all breeds and sizes. However, the dog must be cooperative and calm for the procedure. If your dog is extremely anxious, we can discuss options to help them feel more at ease.
-
Do you offer mobile teeth cleaning services?Yes, we offer mobile services starting at $230, so your dog can enjoy the convenience of care at home. For more details, visit our website at www.prudentpaws.ca.
-
Why is regular teeth cleaning important?Regular cleanings help prevent plaque buildup, reduce the risk of gum disease, and keep your dog’s breath fresh. It’s an easy way to maintain their oral health and overall well-being between veterinary cleanings.
-
What happens if my dog has severe dental issues? If we notice signs of advanced dental problems, such as severe gum disease or broken teeth, we’ll recommend that you consult your veterinarian for a more comprehensive examination and treatment plan.
-
How do I get started? The first step to joining the Prudent Paws family is by booking a meet and greet! You can reach out to us via phone call, text, email, or by using the meet and greet booking form on our website. When contacting us, please provide a preferred date and time for your meet and greet. When booking, it's important to share some basic information about your dog with us. Additionally, please wait for a confirmation email from us before attending the meet and greet to ensure everything is set and ready for your visit. During the meet and greet, we'll get to know you and your dog better and assess if they meet our facility's requirements. This ensures a smooth and happy integration into our pack for your furry friend.
-
How do I schedule a day of care?Once the meet and greet is complete, you will be emailed a form to fill out. Once the form is completed, a text or email will be sent to you confirming the days selected as well as pricing information and instructions
-
Is there flexibility to the drop off and pick up times?Yes! You’re welcome to drop your dog off for daycare and boarding anytime during working hours.
-
Do you offer boarding/overnight care?Yes! Prudent Paws offers overnight boarding every day of the week. All care is cage-free (unless you would like your dog in their crate) and is always supervised.
-
Will my dog be walked during the day?All dogs are taken on walks around the neighborhood, no matter the type of care! (approx. 10-30 minutes long) Half-days = 1 walk Full-days = 2 walks Boarding = 2-4 walks a day See ‘A Day At Prudent Paws’ for more.
-
How old must my dog be to attend Prudent Paws?We do not take dogs under 12 weeks of age. All dogs must be vaccinated against rabies, bordetella and DHPP. Vaccine certificates must be submitted prior to your dog attending Prudent Paws
-
My dog has not been spayed/neutered. Can I still bring them to daycare?Spaying or neutering is advised for all dogs, yet our facilities welcome both altered and unaltered dogs. However, it's important to note that we are unable to accommodate dogs in heat.
-
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?Yes. Every dog must have their: DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccines. We also highly recommend dogs attending to be up to date on their annual flea and heartworm.
-
What happens if I need to cancel my stay?Prudent Paws requires at least 48 hours (2 days) notice for all overnight stay bookings, and 24 hours for daycare bookings. If sufficient notice is not given, there will be a cancellation fee of $20.
-
Do you feed the dogs? Most dogs eat in the morning and evening so they typically do not get fed during daycare. They are occasionally given treats if marked as "allowed" on the form filled out prior to your dog's first day. If your dog requires feeding during the day, you must provide the food, and we will happily feed them (supervised and separated from the other dogs) at the instructed time.
-
What happens if my dog gets sick at daycare or while being boarded? In the event that a dog falls ill, we will promptly notify you via phone and/or email, and take necessary measures to isolate the dog from the common areas and other canine guests, depending on the nature of the illness.
-
How many dogs are usually at daycare? On a quiet day we typically have between 3-6 dogs at once and on a busy day it can be up to 7-10
-
My dog requires special care. How do you guarantee the instructions are followed properly? All important instructions and custom notes are marked on your client profile (Prudent Paws form) which is reviewed every time your dog attends daycare. This information is transmitted every morning to a clipboard in the daycare and emphasized verbally to our staff. This ensures they are aware of which dogs need extra attention and how they must be accommodated/treated.
-
How far in advance do you need to book daycare services? At least 1 day notice is required for daycare services. At least 1 week notice is preferred for boarding to ensure availability and to prevent overbooking.
